We are Sining Na Naglilingkod Sa Bayan (Art For The People) or simply Sinagbayan. We are Cultural Workers, Theater Artists, Poets, Photographers, Writers, Dancers and Visual Artists who perform in schools, communities, streets and other public places. We are artists-teachers who conduct workshops especially to the marginalized sectors.

We aim to EXPOSE THE PLIGHT OF THE FILIPINO PEOPLE in a decadent, backward and colonial culture in order to arouse, organize and mobilize youth and communities to maximize the arts FOR COLLECTIVE ACTION and advocates FOR FREEDOM AND NATIONAL DEMOCRACY.

Our Story
Sinagbayan was established in 2000, amid the people’s struggle against the corrupt and morally bankrupt regime. From the loose formation of alternative artists who frequented Tumbang Preso, an open-stage café-bar featuring independent musicians and performers, the idea of bringing the performances to the communities was conceived as the artist’s contribution to the brewing people’s clamor for good governance.

Having based themselves in the communities and expanded their membership to the country’s regions, schools and universities, and having embraced people’s arts and literature as a long-term struggle, Sinagbayan has been formally established as an organization.
Our programs
The work we do at our Arts Organization is aimed at providing a holistic approach to solving some of our society’s biggest challenges. We make sure our partners are empowered by creating opportunities for individuals and communities.

Sinagbayan produces one major production every year and one minor production which may be performances of poetry interpretation with music or experimental theater play.
