Our Story
Sinagbayan was established in 2000, amid the people’s struggle against the corrupt and morally bankrupt regime. From the loose formation of alternative artists who frequented Tumbang Preso, an open-stage café-bar featuring independent musicians and performers, the idea of bringing the performances to the communities was conceived as the artist’s contribution to the brewing people’s clamor for good governance. Having based themselves in the communities and expanded their membership to the country’s regions, schools and universities, and having embraced people’s arts and literature as a long-term struggle, Sinagbayan has been formally established as an organization.
